- How
much does Orthodate cost? top^
If you want to contact
users references you
will need an All-Access membership.
Contacting references costs extra because
with this feature, we facilitate the shidduch
process by actually calling the reference
for you. We then have the reference call
you to proceed with the shidduch. We do not
give out references phone numbers to protect
their privacy.

- What
do you mean 36% of my money goes to Tzedakah? top^
New
Policy: When you decide
to upgrade to premium status, we will
send 36% of whatever you paid to Tzedakah.
Orthodate.com will decide where to send
the 36%..
- Can
I upload pictures? top^
We do allow you to upload up to 4 pictures with captions per
member. You can access this function by logging into the system
and clicking
on Upload
Picture. We do screen the pictures and reserve the right
to deny your picture and in some cases suspend your account for
any pictures we deem offensive. Please allow 1-2 business days
for processing of your pictures.
- Will
other people be able to see my real email
address? top^
Not unless you give it to them. On all outgoing messages you
have the option of attaching your email address. And, email on
our system is independent of your email address. We only use
your email address to send you a notification that someone has
sent you an email on our system.
- How
will I know when I have an email? top^
When
another member sends you an email through
our system we will send your real email
address (the one you specified when signing
up) a message indicating that you should
login to the system and view your new
message.
- How
do I upgrade my account? top^
When
you decide you wish to upgrade to premium
status, just login to your account and
click on Upgrade
Membership.
- How
do I send messages? top^
When
you browse our database and find someone
you wish to send a message to, just click
'Send Message' and then enter your message. Note:
Only premium members can send messages,
this includes replying to received message.
- Can
I receive messages if I am not a premium member? top^
Yes.
All members can receive and read messages. Also,
all members can choose from several pre-written
responses whether you are a premium or
free member. If you want to respond with
a unique message, you will need to upgrade.
- How
do I contact another user's Rabbi/Reference? top^
When you find
someone you wish to contact, just click
on the 'Contact My Reference' button
and you will be able to create a ticket
for
a Reference to contact you.
You simply
fill in the best time and at what number
the
Reference should call you and we will
have the Reference contact you about
the member
you are interested in.
Note, only Orthodate staff and Shadchans
have direct access to your reference
information.
Note:
Only All-Access premium members can
request that a Reference contact
them.
- What
if I don't have my Rabbi or reference's contact
information? top^
We do not require that
you enter your Rabbi's contact information. In
fact, you can enter anyone as a reference or even
leave it blank.
- What
if someone sends a threatening or offensive
email to me? top^
We hope
that the member's on our system would
never do such a thing, but we cannot
guarantee that this will not happen.
If someone does send a letter that you
find offensive you can send an email
to tos@orthodate.com indicating
the date the message was sent, your name,
your email address, the name of the person
who sent the message and the part that
you find offensive. We then reserve the
right to view that particular message
and we will investigate the situation
by possibly taking legal action and/or
removing the offender's account.
- I
can't seem to login to the system. top^
There
are many issues that could result in
you not being able to login to our system.
In general, the simplest explanation
tends to be the right one. Here are some
helpful questions:

system send you the required

- How
do I contact you for additional help? top^
You
can contact our support team by using
our Help
Desk and filling out the required
information.
- Why
can't people see my picture? I thought I uploaded
it. Top^
You
probably uploaded your picture fine,
but we review all of our picture submissions.
You will receive an email when we review
your picture stating whether it was accepted
or not. This usually will take no more
than 3 business days. To see which
picture we are currently going to review,
click 'upload picture' and
whatever you see there is the picture
we are going to review.
- How
does my Reference know who I am or which
member I am interested in when no last names
are revealed online? top^
When
you request that a Rabbi/Reference
contact you, a ticket is created telling
us to contact the Rabbi/Reference and
tell them to contact you. We give them
your name and the name of the member
that you wish to know more about. It
is then up to the Rabbi/Reference to
contact you with more information.
- Can
I tell if someone has read my message? top^
Yes.
If you go to your 'Sent Messages' folder
and click the message that you are
interested in, you will see a field
that reads Read On: [date
here]
If the user
has not yet read your message, then this
field will not be shown.
- How
do I delete/suspend my account?top^
When
you login to Orthodate there is a "Delete
Account" link on the links to
the right. All members can simply click
that link and their account will be
removed immediately. Note that this
process is irreversible. If you wish
to rejoin the system at a later time
you will have to recreate an account.
NOTE: If you want to temporarily Suspend
your account, you can do this by logging
in to the members' section and clicking
the "Suspend link", instead.
- What
if I cannot afford to pay for a membership? top^
Orthodate
offers free service to anyone who is in financial
need. Simply email a request to billing@orthodate.com with
a brief explanation of your situation. Your
request will be kept confidential and will
be answered within 24 hours. (This is for
members in real
financial need,
please do not abuse this policy)
